Membership, qualifications, safeguarding compliance, events, and rankings for national governing bodies — built in Sheffield and used by NGBs in the UK, Ireland, the US, and Australia.

About Sport80

Sport80 (styled Sport:80) is a sports technology company founded in 2012 by its CEO, Gary Hargraves, and still run from Kelham Island in Sheffield. Its story starts at the ISSF Shooting World Cup, a test event before the London 2012 Games, where the team needed one system to handle entries, payments, accommodation, visas, accreditation, and licences for more than 2,000 athletes, coaches, and officials — and ended up building it themselves. That became the Sport:80 Platform. Sport80 now says it works with more than 90 national governing bodies and sports organisations, and in May 2026 it received the King’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade, four years after winning the same category as the Queen’s Award.

The platform is built for the governing body’s side of a sport. Membership management covers the whole pyramid, including what Sport80 calls 3-in-1 membership (club, affiliated body, and governing body in one purchase), auto-renewals, and digital membership cards for mobile wallets. Qualification and certification management lets members upload credentials, book courses, and appear on public coach finders only while they are compliant. Governance and compliance tools track background checks, safeguarding training, disciplinary cases, and policy acceptance, with a time-stamped audit log, and in the US they connect directly to the U.S. Center for SafeSport and the National Center for Safety Initiatives. Around that sit event registration and sanctioning, results and rankings, email marketing, dashboards, and a donations module. Sport80 configures each platform to the organisation, and its own FAQ puts onboarding at a few months for simpler projects and up to 12 months for complex ones.

In the US, Sport80’s clients include USA Track & Field, which moved its 120,000+ members off a decade-old system, as well as USA Taekwondo, USA Water Polo, USA Judo, USA Weightlifting, USA Climbing, USA Archery, and National Collegiate Rugby, which runs registration and eligibility for more than 700 clubs on the platform. In the UK and Ireland they include British Fencing, a client for more than a decade; England Boxing, with more than 23,000 members and almost 1,000 clubs when it signed in 2024; Swim England, which selected Sport80 in March 2026; and Boxing Ireland. In August 2024, Coles Little Athletics Australia became Sport80’s first Australian client after a national tender, and Sport80 set up Sport:80 Australia to support it. Little Athletics Queensland, Tasmania, and South Australia have since followed.

Sport80 also offers club management tools, but only to clubs whose governing body is already on the platform. They are built around the NGB–club relationship: a member who joins or renews at club level has their national membership updated in the same transaction, and the NGB sees compliance and membership across its whole club network. Sport80’s partner list also overlaps with TidyHQ’s: etrainu, whose learning platform connects to Sport80 with single sign-on, and Refbook, for managing match officials, work with both.

The partnership

Sport80 runs the governing body. TidyHQ runs the club. An NGB on Sport80 holds the national membership, the coach and official qualifications, the safeguarding and background-check records, sanctioned events, and rankings — the register that decides who is allowed to compete, coach, and officiate. Where an NGB switches on Sport80’s club tools, a club’s playing membership can sit there too, linked to the national registration in one payment, and that is usually the right place for it. What sits outside that register is the work of running the club itself: committee meetings and the AGM, volunteer rosters, sponsors and social members, fundraisers, member emails, and the club’s own books. TidyHQ is built for that work. And because a TidyHQ account belongs to the club, not to the governing body, the committee’s records, finances, and communications stay with the club.

  • TidyHQ points international federations and national governing bodies that need national membership, coach and official qualifications, safeguarding compliance, event sanctioning, or results and rankings to Sport80. TidyHQ does not build SafeSport or background-check integrations, qualification pathways, or rankings engines; Sport80 does.
  • Clubs affiliated to a governing body on Sport80 use TidyHQ for club operations: committee meetings and AGMs, volunteer tasks, social events and fundraisers, member emails, and club finances reconciled to Xero.
  • Mutual customers are supported on both sides: Sport80 for the governing body’s register, compliance, and events; TidyHQ for the club’s own members, money, and committee work.

Where Sport80 ends and TidyHQ starts

A boxing club: medicals in Sport80, the committee in TidyHQ

England Boxing chose Sport80 to hold each boxer’s BCR1 — the record of their competitive and medical history — alongside course bookings, events, and member registrations and renewals. That record belongs with the governing body, because it decides who can box on a show. The club’s Tuesday committee meeting, the show-night volunteer roster, the raffle, and the sponsor invoices do not. A club runs those in TidyHQ, with tasks assigned to named volunteers and minutes the next committee can find.

A US club under a SafeSport-covered governing body

USA Judo uses Sport80’s U.S. Center for SafeSport integration so members who regularly work with young athletes declare it at registration and are routed to the training they need. That is the governing body’s compliance job, and it lives in the governing body’s system. The dojo still has a board, a treasurer, a spring fundraiser, and parents to keep in the loop. TidyHQ handles those: fundraiser tickets, emails to members and families, and payments by Stripe card into the club’s own account.

A Little Athletics centre in Queensland

Little Athletics Australia chose Sport80 as its single national platform after a tender involving every state and territory association, with Little Athletics Queensland named as the first to move across. Where your state association runs registrations on Sport80, that is where families register their athletes. The centre committee still has a canteen roster, Saturday-morning parent helpers, a presentation day, and an AGM to run. That is TidyHQ’s job — see TidyHQ for sports clubs.

A swimming club under Swim England

Swim England selected Sport80 in March 2026 for a platform covering direct and club-based memberships, qualifications, licences, event licensing, and safeguarding and compliance processes. A coach’s or official’s qualifications belong in that national record. The club’s gala still needs timekeepers, the committee still needs its documents in one place, and the treasurer still needs the accounts reconciled. TidyHQ covers that with volunteer tasks, club documents, and Xero reconciliation. More on TidyHQ for UK sports clubs.

Rankings from the governing body, presentation night from the club

Sport80’s results and rankings module captures results after each event and calculates ranking points from the governing body’s own schema — USA Weightlifting runs it across 600+ events a year. Those rankings decide selection. The club’s end-of-season dinner, the trophies, and the sponsor tables are the club’s own. TidyHQ sells the tickets, emails the invitations, and reconciles the takings.

Common questions

Sport80 (styled Sport:80) is a sports management platform for national governing bodies and international federations, built by a company founded in 2012 in Sheffield, England. It covers membership, coach and official qualifications, safeguarding and compliance, event registration and sanctioning, results and rankings, payments, email marketing, and reporting. Its website is sport80.com.

Sport80’s published clients include USA Track & Field, USA Taekwondo, USA Water Polo, USA Judo, USA Weightlifting, USA Climbing, USA Archery, and National Collegiate Rugby in the US; British Fencing, England Boxing, Swim England, and Boxing Ireland in the UK and Ireland; and Coles Little Athletics Australia with its Queensland, Tasmania, and South Australia associations. Sport80 says it works with more than 90 governing bodies and sports organisations.

Yes, but only for clubs whose national governing body is already a Sport80 client. Sport80’s club tools cover club memberships linked to the national membership, payments, events, club websites, and compliance tracking, and the governing body sees membership and compliance across its club network. A club cannot sign up to Sport80 on its own.

Many clubs use both, because they do different jobs. Sport80 runs the governing body’s register: national membership, qualifications, safeguarding, sanctioned events, and rankings. TidyHQ runs the club itself: committee meetings and AGMs, volunteer tasks, sponsors and social members, fundraisers, member emails, and the club’s own finances with Xero. If your governing body has given you Sport80 club tools, keep the playing membership there and run the rest of the club in TidyHQ.

There is no native connector between Sport80 and TidyHQ today. Each system does its own job, so little data needs to move between them. Where a club does want to bring people across, TidyHQ supports CSV contact import and has a public REST API with webhooks that a club or developer can build against.

No. A TidyHQ account belongs to the club, and a governing body on Sport80 cannot see your club’s TidyHQ members, finances, communications, events, or documents. It sees the membership and compliance data held in its own Sport80 platform. If a peak body uses TidyConnect to collect affiliation or compliance information, it sees only what your club explicitly accepts into that project.

Sport80 does not publish prices. It quotes custom pricing for each organisation based on the features it needs and its size, after a demo and scoping conversation. Contact Sport80 directly for a quote.

Yes. Sport80 set up Sport:80 Australia in 2024 after Coles Little Athletics Australia chose it as a single national platform, and Little Athletics Queensland, Tasmania, and South Australia now work with it. Like its UK and US work, Sport80’s Australian clients are governing bodies and state associations rather than individual clubs.
