Perth Beer & Beef Club

The Perth Beer & Beef Club was founded in October 1987. What started as a gathering of consular officials, hotel managers, and senior executives has evolved into one of Perth's most enduring social institutions. Members meet ten times a year at rotating premium venues to taste craft beers and enjoy beef-focused meals. The club survived a near-collapse in 2007-08 and today operates on three pillars: supporting WA craft breweries, funding hospitality education, and raising charitable donations.

When the club nearly folded in 2007, operational knowledge lived in one person's head and one sponsor's chequebook. No consistent membership tracking, no financial transparency, and no system for committee handovers.
