Scan tickets at the gate with any smartphone
Ticket scanning is built into Events. Hand check-in to a volunteer with nothing but their phone, and without handing over the keys to everything else.
Check-in at the gate is part of Events now. All a volunteer needs is a smartphone with a camera and a signal.
The bit that matters is who can do it. You can hand scanning to a volunteer without giving them broader admin access, so the person on the gate checks tickets and sees nothing else. That has been the single reason a lot of clubs stuck with a printed list and a biro.
You can set up several scan types, check someone in by hand when their phone is flat, and there is a Stats tab if you like watching the queue go down. The admin side of Events had a fresh coat of paint while we were there.
