Two Tools, Two Jobs
Spond is a team communication app. It answers questions like: who is coming to training on Thursday? Can Sarah's dad drive to the away game? Is Liam available for selection this weekend?
TidyHQ is a club management platform. It answers questions like: have all membership fees been collected? When is the AGM? Has the committee completed the safeguarding compliance task from the state body?
Different audience. Different problems.
Who Uses Spond
Team managers and parents. The under-12s coach checking availability for Saturday. The team parent organising the carpool. The social coordinator sending out the end-of-season dinner invite.
Spond is fast, mobile-first, and genuinely good at what it does. Availability tracking, group messaging, event RSVPs, and photo sharing. For team-level coordination, it is hard to beat.
Who Uses TidyHQ
The club secretary, treasurer, and president. The people who manage memberships, collect fees, run committee meetings, produce financial reports, and deal with the governing body's compliance requirements.
These are different humans doing different work. The under-12s coach and the club secretary might be the same person at a small club. But the jobs are distinct.
Where Spond Stops
Spond does not handle membership fees or financial management. It does not produce treasurer reports or integrate with Xero. It does not manage committee meetings, minutes, or action items. It does not track compliance tasks from a governing body.
It was not designed to. Spond is a team communication tool, and it does that well.
Where TidyHQ Starts
TidyHQ picks up where team management ends. The club as a whole - across all teams, all age groups, all committees - needs a system for governance, finance, and administration.

Easily. Many clubs use Spond for team coordination and TidyHQ for club management. Coaches and parents live in Spond. The committee lives in TidyHQ. Everyone is using the tool that fits their role.
There is no conflict. No data overlap to manage. They operate at different levels of the organisation.
When You Outgrow Spond
The signals are predictable. Your club starts handling money - membership fees, event tickets, merchandise. You need financial reporting for the AGM. The governing body asks for a compliance return. A new committee takes over and has no handover documentation.
These are not team coordination problems. These are club operations problems. That is when TidyHQ enters the picture.
The Bottom Line
Spond is a good product. We are not trying to replace it. If your team coordination is working, keep it.
But if your club is growing, collecting money, running a committee, and answering to a governing body - that is a different challenge. And it needs a different tool.
