Ocean Grove Football and Netball Club

The Ocean Grove Football and Netball Club — the Grubbers — was formed in 1961 after splitting from the joint Barwon Heads/Ocean Grove club. Playing out of Ray Menzies Memorial Reserve, Ocean Grove won eight premierships between 1994 and 2003. The club produced two AFL coaches — Brendan McCartney and Mark Neeld — and six AFL players. Today the Grubbers field approximately 35 teams across senior, reserves, junior, and female divisions in football and netball, with over 900 registered players making them one of the largest clubs in the AFL Barwon region.

With 35+ teams across football and netball, from Auskick to seniors, Ocean Grove manages a registration pipeline that spans hundreds of families across the Bellarine Peninsula. Forty membership tiers cover senior footballers, netballers, juniors at every age group, social members, life members, and sponsors. Coordinating training schedules, team selections, match-day duties, canteen rosters, and targeted communications for 900+ players and their families — without a paid administrator — requires a system that handles complexity without creating it.
