Golden Cycling Club
“Over 165 km of trails across four networks, 7,300+ visiting riders a year, and $5.8 million in direct economic impact — all built and maintained by volunteers in the Canadian Rockies.”
Club Administrator, Club Secretary
The organisation
The Golden Cycling Club was founded in 2002 in Golden, British Columbia — a small mountain town wedged between the Rockies and the Purcells. The club maintains over 165 km of trails across four networks including Mount 7 (home of Psychosis, once the steepest and fastest downhill race in the world). A 2023 economic impact study found that mountain biking brings 7,300+ unique visitors and $5.8 million in direct spending to Golden each summer.
The challenge
A cycling club that doubles as a regional trail stewardship organisation has 31 membership levels covering individual riders, families, youth, trail-crew volunteers, sponsors, and corporate partners. Each season brings group rides, trail-building days, racing events, fundraisers, and volunteer coordination.
How TidyHQ helped
TidyHQ has been the Golden Cycling Club's platform since 2020. All 31 membership levels are managed with online registration. A custom mail domain keeps communications professional. The events calendar coordinates rides, race days, trail-building days, and AGMs. The shop handles merchandise. Committee meetings run through TidyHQ with agendas and minutes.
The outcome
Volunteer time is finite. Golden Cycling Club now spends it where it matters — on their members, not on admin.
- 6+ — years running on TidyHQ
- 31 — membership levels — riders, families, youth, sponsors
- 165+ km — of trails supported by a club running on TidyHQ
Members renew online and register for events through the same platform. The committee spends less time on logistics and more time building the community.
