Filter members by level and status together
A new filter checks membership level and status at the same time, so "active Ordinary members" finally means active Ordinary members.
Advanced Filters work by intersection. Each filter gathers its own set of contacts and your result is whoever appears in every set. Usually that is what you want. It also caused a very specific and very annoying problem.
Level and status were separate filters. Somebody could qualify as an Ordinary member through an expired membership and qualify as Active through a different one, then turn up in a list of active Ordinary members while holding no such thing. If you have ever emailed the wrong people and not known why, this may have been it.
The new filter checks both at once. There is an Active plus Partial option too, for when you are chasing the part-paid.
